MARCH 7TH “SIN CITY SHOWDOWN” AT LAS VEGAS OPENS USAC “GRUDGE SERIES”

stjamesLance Jennings, PEORIA, AZ – FEBRUARY 18, 2013… On Thursday, March 7th, the cars and stars of the USAC Southwest and USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series will clash at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. Sponsored by Hoosier Tire and ParkerStores, the “Sin City Showdown” will kickoff the popular 3-race “Grudge Series” and will also showcase the famed World of Outlaw Sprint Cars, Modifieds, and Street Stocks. The spectator gates will open at 5:00pm with racing scheduled for 6:00pm.

The “Grudge Series” will resume at Peoria’s Canyon Speedway Park with the “Brawl For It All” on September 28th. On October 31st, the mini-series championship will be settled at Perris Auto Speedway during the first night of the “Oval Nationals.” Each race of the “Grudge Series” will carry a $2,500-to-win and $300-to-start purse, with a $50 entry fee. As this writing goes to press, series promoters Kevin Montgomery and Chris Kearns are looking for additional sponsorship to build a large point fund and eligible racers must attend all three shows.

Held during NASCAR weekend, the non-point “Sin City Showdown” will feature drivers from Arizona, California, and New Mexico as they battle on the large 1/2-mile oval. Last year, Bud Kaeding won the $2,500 Las Vegas jackpot and Ryan Bernal claimed the inaugural $5,000 championship. Over $15,000 was raised for the point fund and both promoters are working for more prize money in 2013.

Five-time Arizona Champion Charles Davis Jr. will lead the USAC Southwest Series along with R.J. Johnson, “The Real Deal” Rick Ziehl, Bruce St. James, Mike Martin, Brian Hosford, and Josh Pelkey. Kaeding and Bernal will join a strong USAC West Coast roster including “Hollywood” Danny Faria Jr., Richard Vander Weerd, Ricky Kirkbride, “Showtime” Danny Sheridan, Rusty Carlile, and Jace Vander Weerd. From USAC/CRA, Five-time Champion Mike Spencer and Brody Roa, last year’s Most Improved Driver, will also be in action. The “Sin City Showdown” featured 33 drivers last March and more are expected this year.

The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is located twelve miles north of downtown Las Vegas, Nevada off Interstate 15 at Exit 54 (Speedway Blvd). Adult tickets are $39 and children (12 & under) are FREE. The pit gate will open at 2:00pm and USAC memberships will be honored. Pit passes are $35 for members and $50 for non-members.
